Bagpipe Band / Chanter Practice 03/14/2019

We will be having practice this coming Thursday evening at the Great Falls Scottish Rite. Chanter practice will start at 6:00pm for those on the pipes and then 6:30pm for the beginners. We will be having a full band practice starting at 7pm.

We will also be discussing possible band involvement in the Great Falls AOH St. Patrick’s Day Parade which is scheduled for this coming Saturday at 1:30pm. Although the weather forecast looks a little cold for the full band to march, we would like to keep it above 45 degrees to avoid damage to the drum heads, we will discuss options and figure out what the band would like to do.

We looking forward to seeing everyone there!

An Excellent Article on How to Practice

Practice.

Its a simple concept, but one which we all struggle with one way or the other. Some can’t seem to find the time, some spend lots of time but fail to address the issues that need improving, some get frustrated with their lack of progress, and some just don’t have any idea where to start or what to work on.

The following article was written by Bruce Gandy and appeared in the November 2018, edition of the Eastern US Pipe Band Association’s publication, The Voice. It is full of great tips, techniques, and practice ideas that will hopefully help all of us with our individual practice, and even though you might not be interested in all of the tips and techniques, it will at least show you one way that has worked for someone else, and you might get a few pieces that will work for you.
